Following a coordinated operation by police and animal welfare authorities, 56 dogs were rescued from substandard living conditions at two locations in Jacksonville, Florida, leading to the arrest of the owner, who had previous offences, and another individual.
The mixed-breed dogs were a variety of sizes and ages, including puppies, and apparently being used for breeding.
The dogs' living situation was described as appalling, with the animals confined in "filthy" kennels littered with feces and urine, lacking adequate food and water. Some of the dogs required medical attention.
The female owner had faced charges for animal cruelty in December after 74 dogs were discovered in "horrendous conditions" at the same locations on Dobson Street and Pickettville Road, as indicated by arrest documents. Among them, one dog was deceased, and several displayed signs of illness or injuries indicative of dog fighting.
These dogs did not deserve to suffer such painful neglect. Add your name to our petition and demand justice.
