Badger baiting is a horrific blood sport that has been on the rise, driven by the sharing of graphic content on social media.
It is estimated that over 10,000 badgers are tortured and killed each year.
These shy and peaceful creatures are being brutally exploited for entertainment.
What is Badger Baiting?
Badger baiting involves sending trained dogs into badger setts to locate and hold the badger at bay while hunters dig them out.
Once exposed, the badger is dragged out and torn apart by a pack of dogs.
The dogs often sustain severe injuries, and hunters typically stitch them up without pain relief or antibiotics, fearing veterinary scrutiny. If the injuries are too severe, the dogs are left to die or are shot.
Why We Need Your Help
Our team at Animal Welfare Investigations Project is dedicated to ending this cruelty. We are already working on several investigative leads, but our budget has decreased by 20% in recent months.
We urgently need funds to continue our work, put boots on the ground, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
