A man has pleaded guilty to participating in a dog fighting ring that spanned several U.S. states and allegedly included a Department of Defense official.
Mario Damon Flythe, a 50-year-old barber accused in court documents of using the name “Razor Sharp Kennels” for dog fighting, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in animal fighting and interstate travel in aid of a racketeering conspiracy in U.S. District Court in Baltimore.
When the search warrants were executed, law enforcement officials recovered veterinary medicines, a medical staple gun, weighted collars, and an apparatus for involuntary insemination of female dogs were discovered. Additionally, they found a rolled-up grey carpet with dark stains resembling bloodstains from multiple dogfights. Even more shocking was the discovery of a device made from jumper cables attached to an electrical plug, likely used to electrocute dogs after fights.
He faces a maximum of up to 10 years in federal prison at his sentencing Oct. 24. As part of his plea agreement, Flythe admitted to raising dogs for fights that ended only when a dog died or one of the dog’s owners stopped the attack.
We must ensure that Mario Damon Flythe is permanently banned from owning, living with, or working with animals ever again. He should also face the maximum prison sentence for his crimes. Sign the petition if you agree!
